This re-felt kit will work with any model of Rhodes electronic keyboard. Over the years key bushing felt can compress and no longer do its job or simply fall out. This will cause loose or wobbly side-to-side key movement. This kit is designed to make the key bushing re-felting process a breeze.

Choose the “precut” option to receive the felt already cut into pieces, and ready to glue into your key bushings. Choose “continuous roll” if you prefer to cut the felt yourself.

Glue can also be included, optionally. We recommend a PVC based glue which has a medium dry time.

Includes enough felt to re-felt both balance rail and front rail bushings.

The Key Bushing Re-felt Kit includes:

  • Two lengths of high-quality bushing felt (enough for all of your keys front and rear bushings)

  • Five bushing clamps (select more clamps in the drop down to make your installation go faster)

  • Enough felt for a Rhodes 73. Please contact us if you need enough felt for an 88.

Tips on Usage and Installation

After gluing the felt to the inside of the key bushing we recommend leaving the spring clamp in for up to 1hour and checking the key bushing width. If left in for long periods of time the spring clamps can widen and compress the wood making the bushing once again too spacious. A great tool to use in conjunction with this kit is a Rhodes key caul, which functions as a great installation clamp safe to leave in for much longer periods of time if you need to. Rhodes key pins are both (front and balance) .146” in diameter, so this kit is designed to include a felt thickness that accommodates that.

Compress the wood as needed after installing key bushing felt. After properly installing new bushing felt, it is common for the wood to need a bit of compression using a key easing pliers such as the ones we have available.
