Unlike other keyboard companies, Wurlitzer manufactured acoustic as well as electronic pianos. The Wurlitzer electronic piano’s mechanical action reflects the company’s decades of experience selling solidly-built yet affordable acoustic instruments. Although early models were a little clunky to play, later models in the 140- and 200-series are known for their responsive and satisfying mechanical action.

Nearly forty years after the last Wurlitzer EP was manufactured, mechanical parts are becoming increasingly scarce. Furthermore, as the value of these keyboards increases, “parts Wurlitzers” are also becoming scarce. Once upon a time, it might have made sense to harvest parts from a B-grade Wurlitzer. But at this point—unless the keyboard is damaged to a truly catastrophic level—nearly all complete Wurlitzers are worth the time investment that restoration requires. As time passes, fewer of them will be relegated to “parts” status.

We have acquired a limited number of original 200/200a action assemblies that contain light-to-moderately used mechanical action parts. These assemblies were stored in a reasonably consistent climate, and show little-to-no humidity damage. If you have a Wurlitzer 200 or 200a, we advise purchasing one or two backup action parts, as supplies are finite.

Condition notes. This original Wurlitzer hammer in previously-used condition. However, the hammer-head felt will be freshly installed and in brand-new condition.

Care notes. To avoid environmental damage, Wurlitzer electronic pianos should be stored in a climate-controlled area, without extreme swings of humidity or temperature. Due to the large number of wooden parts, controlling humidity will ensure that the electronic piano will play more consistently and require service less often.
