What makes the psr-2100 so cool today
The built-in speakers on the PSR-2100 sound good enough that I think they are very worth recording with a microphone. I’ve always liked close-miking keyboard instruments with a dynamic microphone, and I think this keyboard would lend itself particularly well to that approach. Select one of the amazing Wurlitzer electronic piano sounds, and you almost forget that you’re playing a more modern keyboard. It feels like sitting down at a great vintage instrument (which, of course, you are!), and I think that the experience translates into the way you play.
More about the PSR-2100
The PSR-2100 was a fairly sophisticated instrument when it was introduced, with a large library of sampled sounds, built-in effects, a 16-track sequencer, and extensive accompaniment and sound-editing functions. There’s a lot to explore in this keyboard, even if you have no interest in using the auto accompaniment features.
We really like the PSR-2100 as a writing and recording keyboard. The built-in stereo speakers are substantial enough to make it enjoyable to play without needing an external amplifier, and the stereo line outputs allow it to be connected directly to recording equipment. It’s the kind of keyboard that can be left set up in a studio, ready for you to make some music.

The keyboard looks great overall, with some fading and discoloration of the plastic consistent with its age. One key has a small chip on its underside.
