Wurlitzer electronic piano model guide

Wurlitzer manufactured electronic pianos for about 30 years, from the mid-1950s to the mid-1980s. New models and variants appeared regularly as the company continued to refine its designs. Over time, these developments resulted in improved playability and more touch-responsive mechanical action. However, the earliest models are worthy instruments in their own right, with a sound unlike that of any other keyboard available.

Understanding the differences between models can help you choose the Wurlitzer which has the features and characteristics that suit you best. We’ve had nearly all models of Wurlitzer electronic piano in our shop at one time or another, and the following guides draw upon our experience playing and restoring them.

We’ve organized our articles into four major model families. Start with our general buying guides to learn what distinguishes each series and what to look for when buying a Wurlitzer. If you’re curious about a particular instrument, you’ll also find further reading about individual models and the features that make them distinct.
